My uncle passed away on Saturday morning. He will be missed by my family dearly. This is a clip from the paper.
J. Bruce Harvey, a former Enid mayor, state legislator and district judge, died Saturday after a lengthy illness. He was 66. Harvey was special district judge twice in Garfield County. He served one term, then left to enter private practice. He later become associate district judge in Harper County and returned to Garfield County as special district judge in 1994, serving until his retirement in 2007. Harvey also served two terms in the Oklahoma House of Representatives as a Republican, representing District 41 in 1983 to 1984, and was mayor of Enid from 1987 to 1989. He also was active in Scouting for many years. He was a native of Carmen. “He was a good guy and a very fair judge,” former law partner Jon Ford said. “He did criminal cases, preliminary hearings and arraignments. He was a good lawyer, he had good perceptions and a good concept of law.” As a private attorney, Harvey liked to help people, often those who could not pay for legal services. “He did it very quietly and without fanfare,” Ford said.
